On this page
This article explains subscriptions for learners: what a plan can include, how billing and invoices work, how to save and change payment cards, and how to cancel or ask for a refund.
Where to find it
- Sign in and open the learner panel at /learner. If your plan includes self-service billing, the sidebar shows Subscriptions, which opens your subscription page at /learner/subscription.
- If Subscriptions is missing from your menu, your current plan does not include a billing page (this is normal on free plans, which only carry permissions and have nothing to bill).
- Where your site offers one, a public plan comparison page is available at /plans.
What a subscription can include
Exactly what you get depends on your plan tier, but a subscription can carry:
- Included courses. Courses that come with the plan are listed on your subscription page, each linking to its course page.
- Extra panel features. Some sidebar items, such as My Progress and My Grades, only appear on certain plan tiers.
- A standing discount on course purchases. Some plans give a percentage off every course you buy, shown at checkout as a "Subscription Discount" line naming your plan. It applies to courses only, not bundles, events, or physical items.
- Bulk discount bands. Some plans discount multi-seat purchases by quantity.
- A free trial. Some plans start with a trial period; your subscription page shows the trial end date while it is running.
Subscribing or changing plans
- On your subscription page, click Change Plan (or Choose a Plan if you do not have an active paid plan). This opens the plan comparison screen.
- Pick a plan. A paid plan takes you to a payment page showing the plan name, billing interval, price, and any free trial, including what you will be billed after the trial ends.
- Enter your card details and confirm. Your subscription page then shows the new plan, its price, and the next renewal date.
Not signed up yet? Picking a plan on the public plans page takes you straight to the signup form with that plan already selected.
Some plan changes do not apply immediately. When a change is scheduled, your subscription page shows a notice with the date it takes effect, and your current plan keeps working until then.
Invoices and receipts
- Your subscription page has an Invoice History table listing every subscription invoice. Each row has a download button that saves the invoice as a PDF.
- Every purchase also sends a confirmation email with a link to your receipt page.
- One-time purchases (courses, tickets, and so on) are listed under Orders at /learner/orders with their full details.
Saved payment methods
The Payment Methods section on your subscription page manages the cards used for your subscription:
- Click Add payment method and enter your card. Cards are stored securely with the payment processor, not on the training site.
- You can keep several cards, give each a nickname, and mark one as Default. The default card is the one charged at renewal.
- Use a card's menu to set it as default, rename it, or remove it.
If a renewal charge fails, your subscription becomes past due and the page shows a notice asking you to update your payment method to keep your access.
Canceling your subscription
- On your subscription page, click Cancel Subscription.
- Optionally tell us why you are leaving, then confirm.
- Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period. The page shows an "Access until" date; after that date, access to the plan's included courses is revoked.
- Changed your mind? While the cancellation is pending, a Resume Subscription button appears. Resuming keeps the subscription renewing on its normal schedule and also cancels any scheduled plan switch.
On a free plan there is nothing to cancel, so the page offers Close Account instead. That is full account deletion, not a subscription action, so only use it if you truly want your account removed. See Your account and profile before going that route.
Requesting a refund
There is no self-serve refund button; refunds are reviewed and processed by staff. To request one:
- Open Support in your learner panel (/learner/support) and create a new ticket.
- Choose the Refund category and include the order number from your Orders page, plus a short explanation.
- Staff will review the request and reply on the ticket.
If you cannot sign in, use the public form at /support and make clear in your message that you are asking for a refund.
Why did this happen?
Why is there no "Subscriptions" item in my sidebar?
The menu item only appears when your plan tier includes self-service billing. On a free plan, the subscription exists only to carry your permissions, so there is nothing for you to manage and the page is hidden.
I canceled, so why do I still have access?
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You will not be charged again, and your subscription page shows the exact "Access until" date. Until then everything keeps working, and you can resume at any time.
Why does my subscription say it is past due?
Your last renewal payment could not be processed. Update or replace the default card in the Payment Methods section of your subscription page to keep your access.
Why do I see "Close Account" instead of "Cancel Subscription"?
You are on a plan that costs nothing. Canceling a free plan would only strip your access while leaving the account behind, so the only self-service action offered is closing the account entirely.
Why didn't my plan change apply immediately?
Some changes are scheduled for the end of the current billing period so you keep everything you paid for. The page shows the effective date, and your current plan keeps working until then. Resuming your subscription cancels a scheduled switch.
Why did checkout show a discount after I subscribed?
Your plan includes a standing discount on course purchases. It appears automatically at checkout as a "Subscription Discount" line, applies to course items only, and any promotional code is applied after it.
