Events, sessions, and tickets

Events are live training sessions, in person or online, that you can book through your training site. This article covers finding events, buying tickets, the attendee details collected at checkout, multi-day schedules, joining online events, attendance, and the certificates an event can earn you.

Where to find it

  • Browse and buy: open /events on your training site. The page has a list view and a calendar tab, plus search and filters for format (in-person, virtual, hybrid) and free or paid events. Old links to /events/calendar land on the calendar tab automatically.
  • Your registrations: sign in and open your learner panel at /learner, then choose My Events in the sidebar. Depending on your plan tier, you may also see Event Calendar, which shows the same registrations laid out on a calendar.
  • Your ticket purchases: the Orders item in the same sidebar lists what you paid.

Finding an event

  1. Go to /events on your training site.
  2. Use the search box or the format and price filters to narrow the list, or switch to the calendar tab.
  3. Click an event to open its detail page. You will see the dates, the daily start and end times, the location (or a Virtual access section for online events), the instructor, how many spots remain, and the price or ticket options.

A recurring event appears as a single card showing its next upcoming date, with a badge indicating more dates in the series. Some event pages also offer "Add to calendar" buttons (iCal/Outlook and Google) so you can save the date.

Buying tickets

Some events sell named ticket types (for example a general and a VIP tier); others just ask how many seats you want.

  1. On the event page, pick your ticket types and quantities, or set the number of seats. Ticket types can carry per-order minimums and maximums, and the page shows how many are left.
  2. Click Add to Cart. Ticket purchases go through the same cart and checkout as courses, so you can apply promotional codes and pay by card on the checkout page.
  3. At checkout, fill in your billing details and the attendee details (see below), then place the order.

You do not need an account first: guests choose a password during checkout, and the account is created with the email you entered when the order is placed. After payment you receive a verification email; open it, then sign in with the password you chose. Note that the cart is stored per website address, so tickets added on one site will not appear in the cart of a different site.

Attendee details at checkout

When you buy more than one seat, you keep one seat yourself and the rest are for people you invite. Checkout asks for each extra attendee's first name, last name, and email address. If the event asks its own questions of every attendee (for example dietary or equipment questions), those appear at checkout too, next to each seat, including your own.

After the order completes, each invitee is registered: people who already have an account are booked directly, and new people get an account plus an email to set their password. You can also fill or change seats later: open My Events, find the event, and click Manage Invitees. Removing an invitee frees that seat. Some providers set a deadline (the event's start or end) after which seats can no longer be filled.

Multi-day events and sessions

An event can run across several days. In that case it keeps the same daily time window on each day, and the page shows the full date range plus the daily hours. Some events instead publish an explicit session list, one entry per day with its own title and times; the page then shows the number of sessions and the full schedule. All times are shown in the event's own time zone.

Online events and joining

Events marked Virtual or Hybrid are joined from your event pass:

  1. Open My Events in your learner panel and click View Pass on the event.
  2. The Join meeting button becomes available 15 minutes before the start time. It opens the meeting in the page or in a new tab.
  3. Any joining instructions from the organizer are shown on the pass. If the organizer publishes a recording afterwards, a Watch recording link appears there too.

You must hold an active registration to get the meeting link; the event page itself only shows the link after you register.

Your pass, check-in, and attendance

Every active registration gets an event pass with a QR code, which you can view in My Events or download as a PDF. At the event, staff can scan your QR code to check you in, or you can use the Check In button on your own pass, which also opens 15 minutes before the start. Once you are checked in, your registration status changes to Attended.

Cancelling a registration

  1. Open My Events, find the upcoming event, and click Cancel Registration.
  2. Confirm. This releases your seat and cannot be undone. If the event has a waitlist, the next person is promoted into your spot.

Cancelling does not automatically refund a paid ticket. Contact your provider through /support if you need to ask about a refund.

Certificates from events

Events can be linked to courses. When the organizer marks you complete after the event, each linked course is credited to you as completed, and any certificate attached to those courses is issued and appears under Certificates in your learner panel. Events can also form one part of a larger certification alongside online courses; in that case the certificate is released once every part, including your event attendance, is done.

Why did this happen?

The join link opens 15 minutes before the event's start time, and only for people with an active registration. Before that window the button reports when the link opens. If the organizer has not finished setting up the meeting, you may also see that the link is not available yet; try again closer to the start.

I bought three tickets. Why am I the only person registered?

One seat is yours; the other two are held for invitees. If you did not enter their details at checkout, the seats stay empty until you fill them. Open My Events and use Manage Invitees to add each person's name and email. Some providers set a cut-off at the event's start or end, after which empty seats can no longer be filled.

The event runs for four days but only shows one time. Why?

Multi-day events repeat the same daily time window on each day of the run, so the page shows one set of daily hours next to the full date range. If the days differ, the organizer publishes a session list instead, and you will see each day's own times in the schedule section.

Why was I put on a waitlist instead of being registered?

The event was full when you registered. Providers can offer a waitlist on full events; if someone cancels, the first person in line is automatically promoted to registered. Your status in My Events changes when that happens, and you can cancel your waitlist spot at any time.

The event ended. Why don't I have my certificate yet?

Certificates from events are issued when the organizer marks your attendance as complete, not automatically when the event ends. If the event is part of a certification that also includes online courses, the certificate is held until every part is finished. If it has been a while, contact your provider through /support.

Why won't the ticket selector accept my quantity?

Ticket types can have a minimum and maximum per order, and the number remaining is capped by both the ticket's own stock and the venue capacity. If fewer tickets remain than the type's minimum, that type cannot be bought at all and the page says so. Sold out and not-on-sale types are shown greyed out.
