Getting started as a learner

Welcome! This guide covers creating your learner account (or joining through an invitation), verifying your email, signing in, resetting your password, and knowing your way between the public website and your learner panel. It is written for anyone taking training on the platform.

Where to find it

  • The public website is your training provider's own site: the home page, the course catalog at /courses, and the events listing at /events.
  • Account creation is at /register and sign-in is at /login on that same website.
  • After you sign in, your learner panel is at /learner. The sidebar includes Dashboard, My Courses, Certificates, Redeem Code, Practical Evaluations, Orders, Support, and Notifications. Some sites also show extra items such as My Events or Subscriptions, depending on the provider's setup and your plan tier.
  • The sidebar's View Courses and View Site entries take you back to the public website.

Your role may be labeled "Student" rather than "Learner" in some places. Providers can customize role names, and "Student" is the default label for learner accounts.

Creating an account

  1. Go to /register on the training site you want to learn on.
  2. If the page asks you to choose an account type, pick the learner option (often labeled "Student"), described as "Purchase courses and earn certifications". The choices offered vary by site.
  3. Enter your first name, last name, and email address.
  4. Choose a password of at least 6 characters that includes an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol, then confirm it.
  5. Submit the form. You land on a "Verify Your Email" page, and a verification link is sent to your inbox.

If you were invited

You may not need to register yourself at all:

  • Seat invitations. If a group leader or organization assigned you a seat, you receive an invitation email. If you do not have an account yet, the link shows a registration form locked to a learner account with the invited email address. The account is created already verified, you are signed in right away, and an accept page claims your seat.
  • Accounts created for you. If an administrator or a checkout created your account, you receive a "set your password" email instead. Setting the password verifies your email and signs you in at the same time.

Verifying your email

  1. Open the verification email and click the link.
  2. The link confirms your address and normally signs you in on the spot, taking you to your dashboard. If your account has multi-factor authentication enabled, you are sent to the sign-in page instead so the usual security check still runs.
  3. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder, then use the "Resend Verification Email" button on the verify page. Resends are limited to about one per minute per address.

Until your email is verified you cannot use the panel: signing in with an unverified account simply returns you to the verify page.

Signing in and resetting your password

  1. Go to /login, enter your email and password, and optionally tick "Remember me".
  2. After signing in you are taken to your dashboard. Learner accounts land in the learner panel at /learner.
  3. Forgot your password? Click "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in page, enter your email, and follow the reset link that arrives to choose a new password.

The public website and the learner panel

The public website is where you browse and buy: catalog pages, event listings, the cart, and checkout. The learner panel at /learner is where you use what you own: your enrolled courses, certificates, orders, and support tickets. You can hop back to the public site any time with View Site or View Courses in the panel sidebar.

Why did this happen?

Why does the site call me a "Student" instead of a "Learner"?

Role display names are customizable by each training provider, and the default label for the learner role is "Student". Whatever the label says, your account works the same way and your panel is at /learner.

I try to sign in but keep landing on a "Verify Your Email" page.

Your email address has not been verified yet, and the platform does not let an unverified account into the panel. The verify page automatically sends a fresh link if one has not gone out recently, and you can press "Resend Verification Email" yourself. Once you click the emailed link, you are verified and taken onward.

I signed in on the main training site, but my organization's site says I am signed out.

Sessions are per website address. Being signed in on one site never signs you in on another, even when both belong to the same provider. Accounts work the same way: an account created on an organization's own site is separate from an account on the provider's main site, even if both use the same email address. Always sign in on the site where your account was created.

Why did the register page skip the account type question?

Two common reasons. Invitation links lock the form to a learner account, because the seat being claimed is always learner access. And some sites simply offer fewer account types than others, so there may be nothing to choose.

The signed link in the email proves you own the mailbox, so the platform completes sign-in for you and takes you to your dashboard. The exception is accounts with multi-factor authentication: those are always sent to the normal sign-in page so the extra security step is never skipped.
