Being a group leader does not stop you from learning. You can take courses, earn certificates, and attend events yourself, all without leaving your leader panel. This article covers where your own learning lives and how it differs from a plain learner account.
Where to find it
Everything is in the group leader panel at /org-admin:
- My Courses in the sidebar opens your personal course list at /org-admin/courses.
- Browse Courses opens the public course catalog at /courses in a new tab, so you can buy more.
- Certificates lists earned certificates at /org-admin/certificates.
- My Events shows your event bookings at /org-admin/my-events (when the events add-on is enabled on your site).
- My Orders and My Subscription hold your personal purchase history and plan.
What appears in My Courses
My Courses is not the whole catalog. It shows courses you have a personal connection to:
- courses you bought through a group or bulk seat purchase (seat pools in groups you lead or own),
- courses from your own completed orders, and
- courses you are personally enrolled in, even without an order (for example, an enrollment created by an access code or by an admin).
To see everything available for purchase, use Browse Courses instead.
Taking a course
- Open My Courses in the sidebar.
- Find the course card. If you are personally enrolled, the card shows your own progress bar and a button labeled Start Course, Continue Course, or Review Course once you have completed it.
- Click the button. The course player opens inside your panel, and quizzes run there too. You never leave /org-admin.
- Work through the content. If the course issues a certificate on completion, it appears under Certificates.
Two kinds of course cards
On a leader's My Courses page, a card is one of two kinds:
- A course you are personally enrolled in. It shows your own progress percentage and a Start, Continue, or Review action. It does not show a group enrollment count, because it is your course, not one bought for the group.
- A course bought for your group that you are not enrolled in. It shows how many group members are enrolled and a plain View Course action, so you can open and go through the content just like a learner would.
How your view differs from a learner account
Plain learners use their own panel at /learner with items like My Courses and Certificates in a learner menu. As a group leader you do not have that panel; the Group Leader role replaces the Learner role, and the same features live in your leader panel instead:
- The course player and quizzes are identical; only the surrounding menu and the page addresses (under /org-admin) differ.
- Your Certificates page lists certificates for you and for the members of groups you lead, not just your own.
- My Events shows your own event bookings, and if you bought several seats for an event, a Manage Invitees option lets you name who fills them.
- My Orders and My Subscription cover your personal billing, separate from anything your organization manages.
Why did this happen?
Why does a course show "View Course" instead of "Start Course"?
That course was bought for your group, but you do not hold a personal enrollment in it. You can still open it and go through the content. If you want your own tracked progress and certificate, assign one of the group's seats to yourself from the group page (see Assigning seats).
Why don't I have the /learner panel like the people in my group?
Group Leader is an upgrade of Learner, and the two roles do not coexist. The learner panel requires the Learner role, so your learning surface moved into /org-admin instead. Nothing is missing; it just lives in your leader menu.
I redeemed an access code. Will that course appear in My Courses?
Yes. My Courses includes every course you are personally enrolled in, even when there is no purchase behind it, such as an enrollment created by an access code or added by an admin.
I bought seats for my team. Why am I enrolled in the course myself?
When you buy multiple seats of a course, one seat from the pool is assigned to you automatically and you are enrolled with it. That is why the card shows your own progress right away. The remaining seats stay available for your members. (Custom training packages are the exception: their seats all start unassigned.)
Why doesn't My Courses show the full catalog?
By design. My Courses is scoped to what you bought and what you are enrolled in, so it stays a to-do list rather than a store. The full catalog is one click away under Browse Courses.
